MyMemeSound hosts a diverse mix of audio files, including public domain recordings, Creative Commons audio, user-submitted original clips, and short pop-culture excerpts under Fair Use (§107). Do NOT assume that every sound is clear for commercial monetization. Users must inspect the licensing label on individual sound pages before incorporating audio into commercial broadcasts or monetized media.
1. How Sound Ownership Works
Original copyright owners retain full ownership of their audio recordings. MyMemeSound does not claim exclusive copyright ownership over user-uploaded content or third-party audio clips.
When a user uploads audio to MyMemeSound, they grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, stream, index, and distribute the audio file for soundboard previews and MP3 downloads by our community.
2. Sound Licensing Classifications
Every sound detail page displays one of six explicit licensing categories:
Audio created in-house. Free for personal and commercial video editing projects.
Free for unrestricted personal and commercial use without copyright restrictions.
Free to use provided creator attribution is included as specified on the sound page.
Uploaded by community creators under confirmed ownership or permission grants.
Source origin and specific creator links must be cited upon usage.
Under moderation review. Caution advised prior to commercial deployment.
3. User-Uploaded Content Rules
Before publishing any sound file on MyMemeSound, uploaders must explicitly confirm:
"I confirm that I have the necessary rights or permission to upload this audio."
This confirmation and timestamp (rights_confirmed_at) are permanently logged in our database. New uploads pass through moderation review before public indexing.
4. Copyright Reporting & Takedown Workflow
We maintain a transparent procedure for investigating copyright concerns:
- Filing a Notice: Copyright owners submit a report via our online DMCA Form or email contact@mymemesound.com.
- Ticket Assignment: The report generates an official Copyright Ticket ID in our system.
- Temporary Status Flag: The reported sound is automatically updated to Under Review status to freeze unverified dissemination.
- Moderation Review & Action: Our admin team evaluates ownership proof within 24-48 business hours. If valid, the audio clip is permanently unassigned and removed from search indexing and server storage.
